Pathfinders and the Historic Hills Scenic ByWay worked with representatives from the City of Bloomfield to organize a “drop-in” event from the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Bloomfield community leaders lead visitors from Des Moines around town to show them recent successes and and seek guidance on future projects. The visiting team also heard presentations from community members. After “dropping in and listening,” they will prepare a packet of feedback for Bloomfield leaders, including ideas to consider, potential resources, examples of best practices, and some suggested next steps. The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) oversees the Iowa Arts Council, Produce Iowa, the State Historical Society of Iowa, and the State Historic Preservation Office.
Historic Hills scenic byway is a 110-miles long and takes travelers through Wapello, Appanoose, Davis, Van Buren, and Lee counties. Pathfinders’ ByWay Coordinator, Diana Hughell, meets regularly with local stakeholder groups to help develop the visitor experience along the byway.
