This resource guide was developed by community residents and elected officials to provide a central location for important community resources. You can filter the guide by “category” or search for an individual resource using the search box on the left.
The guide was developed by local volunteers and a collaboration between Pathfinders RC&D, Jefferson County Supervisors, Jefferson County Mental Health Office, and the Jefferson County Hunger Dialogue.

African Violet Foundation
During the holiday season, this Foundation serves middle school and high school students in the Fairfield, Pekin, and Van Buren Community School Districts. These students are provided with school hoodies and candy at Christmas. The African Violet foundation also holds a 'Caring through Clothing Event' that provides about 700 people with clothing and laundry supplies.
American Homefinding Association
American Home Finding Association is a private, not-for-profit family service agency. Services include Adoption, WIC, Maternal & Child Health Programs, Emergency Shelter for adolescents, Child Care and the Foster Grandparent Program. Serves Jefferson County residents.

Carry on Bags
Provides free food bags for income qualifying students at the Fairfield Community School District and Maharishi School on Fridays and before school breaks.
Come to Supper
Free meal every Tuesday of each month, no questions asked. 6:00-7:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.
Cornerstone Community Well

Provides practical assistance and life skills training to Jefferson county residents in financial crisis. Practical assistance includes financial, utility bills, and clothing assistance. Life skills training includes classes and workshops.

A local non-profit that organizes volunteers to help those in need. And when volunteer help is not enough, we will offer information about local sources of professional help.
Fairfield Community Center
Provides meals on site and some home delivery for those age 60 or older. Suggested guidelines for contributions are posted at the meal centers. Ability to contribute does not determine eligibility. Individuals under age 60 are required to pay the full cost of the meal.
Fairfield Farmer's Market
Winter Market: first Saturday of November thru the last Saturday of April Fairfield Senior Center, 209 S. Court Street. Hours: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
FAMA (Fairfield Area Ministerial Association)
Administers a 'Transient Fund' which provides emergency assistance for persons traveling through the community.
General Relief

Assistance with rent, food, utilities, limited medical and burial assistance. Must meet income guidelines and the limits on help during a 12 month period.
Lockridge Senior Center

Lord's Cupboard of Jefferson County
Jefferson County residents who meet income guidelines can receive bread and milk once a week. Every 3 months, clients may receive a full order of groceries that includes non-perishable foods, bakery and meat items, milk and supplies such as paper products, laundry soap, and shampoo.

Provides funding for community-based services that enable seniors 60 years and older to remain in their own home and community for as long as possible. Offers support services to family caregivers. Serves Jefferson County residents.
PAWS of Hope
Distributes food bags for weekends and school breaks for students at Pekin Community School District

SHARE Iowa offers food packages up to 50% off the supermarket prices. You can pay by cash, check, EBT or online using Pay Pal. Pick up at Fairfield SHARE located at Eagles Club, 1707 S Main Saturdays at 8:00 AM. Must order in advance. Serves Jefferson County residents.
Sieda Community Action Resource Center

SNAP - Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (Jeff Co DHS)
Nutrition assistance to eligible, low-income individuals and families in the form of an Electronic Benefits Card (EBT) to purchase food.
