The guide was developed by local volunteers and a collaboration between Pathfinders RC&D, Jefferson County Supervisors, Jefferson County Mental Health Office, and the Jefferson County Hunger Dialogue.

Cedar View Trail
4.5-mile natural trail connects Libertyville and Fairfield. Also connects to the Fairfield Loop Trail and trails in Jefferson County Park. Entrance is on 32nd Street, one mile south of Business 34.
Chautauqua Park

A 28.7 acre full featured park within the city limits of Fairfield. The park features a .77 mile walk loop, multiple playgrounds, a disc golf course, shelters and picnic areas, restrooms, a fruit orchard, and easy access to the 16-mile Jefferson County Loop Trail.
Fairfield Loop Trail
The 16 mile Fairfield Loop Trail officially begins (and ends) next to the Maasdam Barns at Mile Marker Zero. This access is near Jefferson County Health Center (at the interchange of Hwy 1 & US 34). However, plenty of other entrances and exits let you customize your enjoyment of this unique trail. Trail surface is crushed limestone on most segments but a couple are concrete.
Forest Park
0.9 acre city park with playfield for spontaneous game play and organized sports
Heritage Park
1.9 acre city park with a skate park for skateboarding, playground, ball field, basketball hoop, and picnic shelter
Howard Park
The 0.9 acre Howard Park provides a playground area, bicycle racks, rest area, picnic gazebo, and hosts the Farmer's Market during the warmer months.

Jefferson County Park offers camp sites, cabins, picnic shelters, trails, fishing, handicapped facilities, nature center, playground equipment, baseball field, prairie plantings.
Lamson Woods
42-acre city park with rustic wooded trails and ponds. Connect to the Fairfield Loop Trail.
Maharishi University Recreation Center
The Fitness & Recreation Center is a 60,000-square-foot indoor facilitywhich includes: 4 tennis courts, two basketball / volleyball courts, three pickle-ball courts, aerobic area, weight training area, dance studio, gymnastics / parkour area and climbing wall. Outdoor rental equipment available: sailboats, canoes, kayaks, cross country skis, stand-up paddling boards and bicycles.
O. B. Nelson Park
21-acre city park provides softball fields, skate park, sand volleyball courts, playground, shelter, restrooms and enclosed dog park.
South Wood Park
3.7-acre city park provides walking trails and a playground.
Waterworks Park
97-acre city park has lake with boat launch & swimming beach; picnic tables, shelter, playground, restrooms, fishing. Connects to Fairfield Loop Trail.
