Watershed Projects

Watershed Projects

Pathfinders is a partner on two Water Quality Initiative  projects

The purpose of the projects is to support Iowa's Nutrient Reduction Strategy and improve water quality through a collaborative, research-based approach. Each project has a Watershed Coordinator who works with farmers and rural and urban residents to adopt conservation practices that fit their unique needs, lands, and budgets.

In the winter of 2017/2018 Pathfinders designed and facilitated community dialogue meetings to create a space where people could share and understand perceptions about the watershed and water quality, share information about the watershed, water quality, soil health, and nutrient loading, identify motivating factors for change related to resource conservation, and provide opportunities for more engagement in the work happening in the watershed.

One page overview sheets from the community dialogues are available!

Cedar Creek Watershed Management Plan

Using data collected from stream assessments and feedback from the community dialogues, Pathfinders completed the Cedar Creek Watershed Management Plan.
